Freethinker: open-minded
one that forms independent opinions on the
basis of reason. To quote Einstein: “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.” I consider myself a freethinker par excellence. I totally refuse to let others do my thinking, regardless of who they are. That is not to say I don't consider the ideas of others, but I have to analyze them and reach the same conclusion to agree with them.
"It is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything
upon insufficient evidence." There's nothing like letting your mind fly, unbridled by convention, authority, religion, or any other restraint. To be human is to be curious... to wonder... The older I get, the closer I get to the big event we call death. I can't say I have an abnormal fear of death. It's an inevitable and I choose to seldom think about it. What I do fear is to reach that day and not be sure about what I was during my life and what will happen after my death. Was I merely a machine? Will my consciousness somehow survive? Will there really be atonement and rewards? If you like to wonder too, return often and give me some feedback. Maybe you'll be the one to convince me of something I have so far not believed or understood. Depending on your point of view, you might find some if these ideas dumb, bizarre, irreverent, insane... which would make me so very happy... :) Come, let's journey together in search of the ultimate truth...
